This enormous bird landed about 2 metres away from me, when I was crossing a bridge at the entrance of the wetlands. These birds were a common sight among the built up areas of Singapore. I still remember the sounds of these birds, along with the Javan Myna on Orchard Road, and Asian Koels.
Sungei Buloh is a nature reserve in the extreme north west of Singapore, and is about the only part of the island not filled with buildings. I saw my first ever kingfisher here too, along with mudskippers and alligators.
